[Hong Kong] Wetland Park, Tin Shui Wai

Yesterday, I went to Hong Kong Wetland Park in Yuen Long district, Hong Kong. It is a conservation, education and tourism facility.

This place has been on my list since I came to HK 7 months ago, but! the place is really far away from my place. So I always postpone to go to this place.
Luckily, yesterday I have some business to visit this district (from my place 1.5 hours, in fact, from northernmost HK until southernmost only takes around 2 hours ... by car).

Where is it?

How to go to this place?
1. Take MTR purple (west) line, and get off at Tin Shui Wai.


2. Take light rail, station 1, no. 705 or 706 (do not forget to tap your card in and out the station)



3. Get off at Wetland Park station


4. Follow the direction, and you will arrive in front of gate


How much the ticket?
Adult: 30 HKD
Children/Seniors/Students: 15 HKD


After that you will find Eco-Maze,

and the way to go to visitor center:


I suggest to go around some room in visitor center later after you go around outdoor attraction.
In outdoor, there were:
1. Pui Pui's Home
There was Salt Water Crocodile in here. We can also take a picture with crocodile. AW!


2. Stream walk
In here, I observed home of wildlife. There were waterfall, pool, Chinese river, mud, etc.

3. Wetland Discovery Center
There were life lab and wet lab to study about stream and pond life at ease.
From here, there was bridge to others attraction,

4. Succession Walk
Observing wetland habitat and explore the change of species as the habitat changes from open water, floating plants like water lilies, etc.


5. Riverside Hide, Fishpond Hide, Mudflat Hide, Viewing Pavilion, Wetland Reserve
All of these place, to observe the bird from far away, using telescope


6. Mangrove Boardwalk
There were pathway to walk, and you can observe mangrove life (same like in Jakarta, Hutan Mangrove Pantai Indah Kapuk). I did not find any kind of existence in here.


7. Butterfly Garden
I expect this will be like Singapore Butterfly Garden in Changi Airport. but! ............

thank you to let me know. NO BUTTERFLY AT ALL!

After finished outdoor, I went to indoor in visitor center:
1. What are wetlands?
They will give you some information about wetlands, in Hong Kong and also around the world!

2. Living wetlands
They give some explanation about forest, snowing place, etc.


the crocodile was real!

3. Viewing Gallery
Again, you can observe the bird from this place.


4. Human Culture
There were so many attraction like human body, human in ancient history, some unique scientific machines, etc.

5. Photo Booth
You can take a photo and directly send to your email.

Overall, I went there at 2 pm, and finished all the attraction at 4.45 pm. But you needs longer time if you want to read all the explanation about the nature. YEIY!
It is better to come in all seasons expect summer. I cannot imagine how many mosquitoes are there if you go in summer!
